Vanguard was built in response to a growing gap in the industry where passive fire safety was too often seen as a box-ticking exercise rather than a critical life safety measure. Coming from hands-on, technical backgrounds, we’ve seen first-hand how poor fire door installations, unchecked compartmentation issues, and non-compliant work put lives and buildings at risk.
We were born with a focus to change that narrative. We’re passionate about delivering practical, informed, and honest fire protection solutions that not only meet compliance standards but make a real difference to building safety. Dan brings a strong background in construction and joinery with a technical mindset and sharp eye for detail. After years of managing large-scale building and fire door projects, he saw how poor workmanship and miscommunication were compromising compliance. Dan is passionate about delivering a clear, honest approach to fire safety that puts people first. He leads on operations, compliance strategy, and project delivery, working closely with each client to ensure quality at every step.
Ian Suttle
Co-Founder & Director
With extensive commercial experience in both joinery and fire safety, Ian leads the development of Vanguard’s pricing strategies, ensuring every proposal is fair, transparent, and focused on long-term value. He works closely with our clients to understand their specific priorities and pressures, using his deep industry insight to identify the most effective route to compliance without unnecessary expenditure. Through a consultative and practical approach, Ian simplifies complex requirements and delivers tailored, commercially intelligent solutions that support confident decision-making and long-term fire safety outcomes.
